Cette année encore, je n’ai pas pu résister à l’appel de la Japan Expo. Ce n’est pas tellement l’idée de déambuler dans des allées bondées qui m’attire, mais cette convention est toujours un bon prétexte pour retrouver mes amis et passer un bon moment avec eux.
This year again, I could not resist to the Japan Expo call. It is not the idea to walk in alleys full of people that I enjoy, but this convention is always a good opportunity to meet with my friends and have fun with them.
La différence cette fois-ci ? Nous y étions en cosplay ! Bon, certes, pas des cosplays très élaborés car nous avions peu de temps entre Geekopolis et la Japan, mais nous avons tout de même réussi à faire un groupe My Little Pony assez sympathique.
The difference this time ? We were wearing cosplays ! Okay, there were not elaborate cosplays because we did not have much time between Geekopolis and the Japan, but we managed to be a nice My Little Pony group.
J’ai en projet un cosplay de Sailor Fluttershy, j’avais donc déjà acheté une perruque rose. Et comme Fluttershy est mon poney préféré, j’ai décidé de faire une version casual du personnage : la robe jaune et le collier ont été achetés. J’ai tout de même mis un peu la main à la pâte en faisant les ailes moi-même.
I have a Sailor Fluttershy cosplay project, so I already had a pink wig. And as Fluttershy is my favourite pony, I decided to do a casual version of the character : the yellow dress and the necklace were bought. But I made the wings myself !
L’une des raisons pour lesquelles nous aimons aller à la Japan Expo, c’est justement le cosplay : c’est là qu’ont lieu la finale de l’ECG (European Cosplay Gathering, ce n’est pas rien !) et la sélection française pour l’année suivante. Autant dire qu’il y a du lourd au programme : non seulement les cosplays sont TRÈS travaillés mais c’est un vrai spectacle à regarder. Cependant, pas besoin d’assister à ces représentations pour voir des cosplays magnifiques, il suffit de marcher dans les allées.
One of the reasons we like to go to the Japan Expo, it is precisely the cosplay : the ECG (European Cosplay Gathering) final and the french selection for the next year take place there. So let’s say that it is really awesome : the cosplays are really elaborate, but it is also a real show to watch. However, no need to go to the shows to see wonderful cosplay, you just need to walk in the alleys.
Cette année nous avons rencontré quelques personnes très sympas ! Quand vous incarnez un personnage d’un univers, les personnes qui aiment cet univers ou qui portent un cosplay similaire ont tendance à venir très facilement vers vous pour prendre une photo.
This year, we met some very nice people. When you embody a character from a specific universe, people who like this universe or who wear a similar cosplay to yours tend to come very easily to you to take a picture.
Comme d’habitude, je n’ai pas pu m’empêcher de ramener quelques goodies. Nous avons retrouvé à nouveau le stand Wistful et j’ai craqué pour un poster de sirène et un marque page Elsa. Le travail de cette artiste est vraiment très beau alors je ne me sens même pas coupable pour ces petits achats compulsifs.
As usual, I could not resit and I had to buy goodies. We went to Wistful stand and I bought a mermaid poster and an Elsa bookmark. Her work is so beautiful that I don’t even feel guilty for those compulsive purchases.
J’ai également fait l’acquisition d’une photo dédicacée de Yaya Han. Probablement la dernière qu’elle aura vendue à la Japan Expo cette année puisqu’elle était en train de remballer son stand. Yaya est vraiment une personne très gentille et très abordable. Elle n’hésitera pas à discuter quelques instants avec vous, voir à prendre une photo avec vous comme elle l’avait fait à Polymanga.
I also bought a an autographed photo from Yaya han. It was probably the last one she sold at the Japan Expo this year because she was wrapping up her stand. Yaya is a really nice person and very approchable. She will talk to you for a few moments very easily or to take a picture with you like she did at Polymanga.
Pendant le reste de la journée, nous avons admiré des stands d’artistes, revu une amie qui travaillait sur un stand de jeu vidéos pour son stage (^_^), mangé des frites toutes molles, et pris plein de photos.
During the rest of the day, we admired artists’ stands, we saw a friend who was working there for her internship (^_^), ate some flabby fries, and took many pictures.
Et pour finir en beauté , Phobos et moi sommes allées manger des cosplays. Oui je viens d’écrire “manger des cosplays” et il m’a fallu bien 20 secondes pour m’en apercevoir. C’est le problème quand on rédige son article à 23h43. Bref, nous sommes allées manger des sushis, c’est bien meilleur quand même ^_^.
And to finish in style, Phobos and myself went to eat cosplays. Yes I wrote cosplays when I was writing the french text and it took me 20 seconds to see it. It is the problem when you write your articles at 11:43pm. So, we went to eat sushis, and it was wayyy better ^_^.
